With the guidance of her grandmother, Sandra learned to be a self-sufficient and independent woman. After moving to Wisconsin at 15 to live with her father, an unexpected tragedy and the fallout from his mistakes required her to get her own apartment while still in high school. At 21, Sandra moved to Los Angeles, where she found tremendous success, launching her first product line, Kurtain Kraft. Working with the gritty resolve and make-do skills she learned as a child, she became a millionaire by the time she was 25, only to lose her fortune before the age of 30 and have to start all over again. Sandra started Semi-Homemade, smarter and wiser from her past mistakes, and has never looked back.

Due to pressure from society, their families, and even from the church world, a lot of these young women are panicking and settling for counterfeits instead of waiting for their true soul mate. The author in this spiritual autobiography courageously and humorously shares her quest to fulfill God’s plan for her life. Made in Time

"Made in time" looks at 5 projects developed by Clemence Seilles in Royal College of Art in the Product design department in 2008. This book goes through the drawings, the photographs, the writings and the objects to illustrate all the process from the first mark on paper to the object in a space. This book express the way Clemence chooses to work as a product designer: work on demand, site specific objects for temporary setting. The way the objects are built strongly relate to crafted methods. The designer is also the builder. The object that Clemence Seilles provides goes further than a piece of furniture: the final object ism is made of different mediums such as the drawings, the photomontages, the objects and this non-material presence of the "silent performance." The book ends with "the cuckoo method" project: a partnership with Fabien Cappello (product designer), Sarah Gottlieb (graphic designer), Riitta Ikonen (costume maker) and Georgina Wu (film maker, graphic designer). "The cuckoo method" is the wish to use other people skills, to keep moving from a place to another and always renew your own practice.

Clean and simple design coupled with an embrace of color, beautifully crafted millwork, and environmentally friendly materials are hallmarks of the work of Campion Platt. Every project is firmly rooted in the belief that handcrafting a home of one’s own should be a pleasure, and that an individualized, intensely personal interior can be achieved on any budget when an honest conversation is opened with a designer, or yourself, about what is most important in a home, and that this process will yield achievable, comfortable results. To that end, his firm creates spaces that are bespoke on many levels–each residence and all of its furnishings are literally made to order. This lavish color presentation of over 200 images showcases the results of this unique approach in eighteen projects that range in size and location from demure city pied-a-terres to chic lofts and grand country estates. Conversational, engaging commentary and original sketches from the designer’s portfolio reveal his creative process, explain the inspiration from which each space’s theme is derived, disclose his most valuable tips, and explain how his experience has informed the creation of his own custom furniture, fabric, and carpet lines. "I discovered that Campion was almost obsessively concerned with fabrics and finishes, which resulted in a very visually rich environment. " –Jay McInerney

How do you make cheese from pantry staples? Or create an oven smoker from scratch in just two minutes? Or make ice cream without a machine? In "Home Made," Yvette van Boven shows you how, complete with an irreverent voice, step-by-step photos and illustrations, and a gorgeous photo alongside every recipe. While her recipes are rooted in a natural, from-scratch cooking philosophy, van Boven is never preachy (she doesn’t use the word "organic"); she believes that this way of cooking is fun and that the dishes simply taste better. Chapters include Preserving Vegetables, Pre-Dinner Drinks, Chocolate and Cookies, After a Night Out, Ice-Cream-You-Scream, Don’t Forget the Dog , and more. Each chapter starts with a basic dish that you can make yourself, but usually don’t because you think it’s too complicated (think again ), and includes variations–basic bread becomes focaccia with olives and rosemary, or red cherry and thyme bread. This book will inspire you to make every dish at home.

Be Made Whole

Be Made Whole

$16.99

“Book Summary Do you want to be made whole? Jesus still asks us this same question today. Many people feel helpless, hopeless, discouraged and powerless. Learn through true-life stories and inspiring journey of a woman whose broken life has been transformed by God. Through deliverance, healings, miracles and revelations her experiences will convince readers that God can transform their lives as well. This book will open your eyes and your heart to the Redeemer. This book will inspire reflection and release renewal in your faith. It will come alive as your learn of God’s restoration power. Kathy Armstrong’s first revelation that God was real and hears our calls for help came during a carpooling incident with her friend, Nancy. Kathy’s car stalled right in the middle of dangerous traffic, and she barely made it to the side of the road. It was not out of gas, but no matter what she did, it just wouldn’t run anymore. Nancy challenged Kathy to ask God for help, a foreign concept to this author at the time, and Nancy said she would agree with the prayer. With nowhere else to turn, Kathy says, “My prayer went something like this: Okay God could you please fix my car? Please let me have it for today so I can get to class and work, amen.” It worked. The car started and ran fine for that one day, just as she had asked. Thus began a fascinating and inspirational journey as she found, time and again, how faithful God is when we turn our lives over to Him–COMPLETELY. This true story of one woman’s struggles and lessons in trusting the Lord is amazing in its honesty and depth. Her willingness to be vulnerable in sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly of her life makes the book’s message so much moreunderstandable. The most edifying part is how many times she stood on God’s Word when she had nothing else and no glimmer of hope in the natural, and how He walked right beside her to take her to new places in His will she had never even considered. From beginning a business (after praying and being convinced she was supposed to do so) and believing the money would be there to do it (it was), to being obedient in going to France on a mission project, and all the evidence of God’s hand in that, to becoming a sought-after speaker and lecturer, this is an outstanding story of encouragement and what can happen when we let go and let God Kathy says when the Lord made it clear she was to share this incredible journey by writing a book, she protested that she was a speaker, not a writer. She found out that excuse did not impress Him in the least so, in submission to the Lord of her life, she sat down and wrote. That’s one thing that makes this book so real and endearing. She does not try to dazzle the reader with her superior knowledge of the craft of writing, she simply tells what happened, how she stumbled like the rest of us, and how having God at the center of any plan saves so much grief and pain. The basic motivational message is not new, except that very few of u

Made in Britain

Made in Britain

$8.99

Looking at how Britain pays its way in the world today. Like Andrew Marr"s HISTORY OF MODERN BRITAIN or Michael Palin"s HIMALAYA, the book will have a coherence and life beyond the television series, mirroring its basic structure, but looking at some issues in greater depth, and telling additional stories to illustrate some of the ideas. This book is about the things that Britain produces in order to pay its way in the world, from physical goods that we can see and feel, to intangible services that are much harder to quantify. We don"t have to be prejudiced in favour of certain types of value: we shouldn"t assume finance is modern, and manufacturing out of date for example. What matters is what sells and for how much. From manufacturing to technology, design and the services industries, this book will provide a cutting edge analysis – via entertaining stories – about what we make and why it matters.

With her enigmatic mentor, Jack, covering her back, Nadia unearths sinister clues that point to an increasingly darker and deadlier mystery. Now, with her obsession over the case deepening, the only way Nadia can right the wrongs of the present is to face her own painful ghosts and either bury them for good, or die trying.
